OOC: Application

Of the Royal lines of both Chaos and Amber, Dara is a shapeshifter with almost perfect control over her body, a talented swordswoman, and a brilliant sorceress. She is also a very talented actress, and so comes across as someone quirky and very likeable. If she seems clever, she doesn’t seem dangerous. Although the quirky and likeable is probably genuine, it’s a good rule of thumb that if Dara says something, there is a fifty percent chance that she’s lying, and a 100 percent chance that she’s either spinning the truth, or keeping something back.

As Albert Camus once wrote, “The rebel can never find peace. He knows what is good and, despite himself, does evil.”

In a nutshell, that is Dara.

is someone who is prepared to do anything, and sacrifice anyone, in her goal. Over the course of canon, she will commit treason, lose her home, condone murder and kidnapping, seduce a perfect stranger, leave her beloved son, manipulate behind the scenes, and eventually murder in cold blood.

Why?

To restore the balance between the two poles of reality. Unless it is fixed, the imbalance will result in either a total disintegrating of the multiverse, or total stagnation. To avoid those two things, Dara will end up sacrificing her scruples and her honour, but on the bright side eventually she succeeds. Through her son, yes, but once she stops spluttering over being told to stop meddling, she’ll be pleased.

You see, Dara is smart. Very, very, scarily smart, and like a lot of smart people who know it, she has a tendency to view everyone around her as a bunch of idiots who will end up destroying the universe with their selfishness – the fact that most people are very easy to manipulate doesn’t really help. As she gets older, the ease with which she does things will lead itself to arrogance, and the belief that only she really knows what is best.

The interesting thing about Dara is that she is genuinely not doing what she does for herself, she is doing it to keep the universe balanced. It’s just that either her motive isn’t believed, or doesn’t come through. But that genuine believe that ultimately, everything she does is for a good cause, will be something very interesting to explore.
